Printmaker Emily Gray Koehler’s reduction woodblock prints are nature scenes informed by a childhood split between the farm and the forest. After an initial print is made, Koehler builds a corresponding collagraph out of a rigid surface, collected prairie grasses and glue, to which she applies ink and runs through a press atop the original print. The result is an added layer of texture which makes the two-dimensional print more dynamic. Koehler lives and works in White Bear Lake, MN.
