I explore the idea of place.

Through dramatic landscapes and intimate portraits of the natural world I investigate the places I call home: North Woods and Great Plains, Farm and City, Michigan and Minnesota.

Born and raised in Northern Lower Michigan, the arts and the natural world have long been a part of my life. As a child with crayons and craft paper in hand, the forest and my family's farm provided a plethora of curiosities for my young mind to investigate. From the roots of these youthful thoughts, I found a niche in the arts program at Grand Valley State University. Absorbed by the diverse manifestations of printmaking, I found prints to be an engaging way of expressing my ideas.

After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in printmaking, my work has largely focused on regional environmental and modern land use concerns. I have sought to develop a dialogue between the viewer and the natural world through colorful woodcuts and collagraphs. Using these media I hope to convey not only my sense of our place in the environment but also a desire to understand and protect the natural world.
